About David Hinchliffe

David is Councillor for Central Ward, which comprises the suburbs of Spring Hill, Fortitude Valley, New Farm, the Central Business District, Herston, Wilston and parts of Kelvin Grove, Bowen Hills, Windsor, Newmarket and Newstead.

David was first elected to Council in 1988 and was a member of Civic Cabinet from 1991 to 2008.

In 2004 David was elected by Council to the position of Deputy Mayor and Majority Leader, and became Chairperson of the Urban Planning and Economic Development Committee.

Previously, David has worked as a research officer, speech writer and journalist. He is a practising visual artist and has had 30 solo exhibitions.

From 1991 to 2004 David was Chairperson of the Community Policy Committee and from 2004-2008 was Deputy Mayor and Chairperson of Planning Development Assessment and Economic Development.
