Development Applications

Below are some current Development Applications for Central Ward. You can view these applications at a customer service centre, or you can view them on line at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au and click on 'view development applications' and follow the prompts.

CODE ASSESSABLE applications mean that the application will NOT be advertised and that neighbours will NOT receive notification from the applicant. The applications are assessed by Council officers in relation to the existing City Plan. Neighbours can write to Council if they are aware of the application, but there is NO formal submission rights. There is also NO right of appeal.

NOTIFIABLE CODE applications are accompanied by a sign advising the general public of the development proposal as well as written notification to neighbours. Neighbours and members of the public can make informal submissions -- however if the final decision of Council is one which submitters do not like, under NOTIFIABLE CODE, there is NO right of appeal to the Planning and Environment Court.

IMPACT ASSESSABLE applications are advertised and neighbours do receive notification from the applicant. Members of the public, including neighbours make make submissions (either in favour or against the application) during the period that the application is being advertised. Submissions must be in writing and personally signed.

When Council makes a decision about the application, all people who have made a formal submission will receive notice from Council of that decision. Anyone who makes a formal submission to an impact assessable application has the right to appeal the final decision by Council if it is not to their liking. There are strict processes in relation to lodging an appeal.

Submissions should be addressed to Ms Jude Munro, CEO, Brisbane City Council, GPO Box 1434, Brisbane Q 4001.
